ALLERGENIC PRINCIPLES: Alkaloids including erysodine, erysopine, erysothiopine, erysothiovine, erysovine and hypaphorine.
COMMENTS: Young leaves (if cooked) and flowers are edible and used medicinally. Seeds used to poison rats and dogs in Mexico. Suspected of being toxic to humans and livestock.
